The economy is not in the best place it has ever been right now. People continue to lose jobs, and the unemployment rate is rising to the highest we have seen in awhile. Unfortunately, some people are now even unable to keep their homes. If families do not even have a home to live in, how can they expect to afford important and necessary medical or dentistry procedures?

Current estimates note that over 100 million American are without dental insurance. This a serious issue to be concerned about, especially due to evidence that your oral health is intricately linked to your overall health and well-being. Many people seem to believe that they are not able to find cheap dental care in their community, or even in their state, but finding this care is possible.

Just because you lack insurance for you mouth, does not necessarily mean that you cannot receive the basic dentistry care that you deserve. Your local chapter of the United Way is a great way to locate free, or at least affordable dentistry work. You may want to look up your local chapter and contact them to locate an affordable facility in your area.

Dental Schools

When dentists are still in training, they charge less for their services, and you can take advantage of the savings. Even though a student dentist may be working on your mouth, there should be an experienced, certified dentist close by who is mentoring the student. The American Dental Association has a list of the nearest dental schools to you available on its website. The ADA can also direct you to your state dental association, which may also be a valuable resource.

Medicaid

Most states offer some sort of emergency dentistry services to adults age 21 or over. However, if you are under 21, you will most likely be covered by your state’s Medicaid services. Just type in your state’s name and Medicaid at the same time into a search engine. You should be able to pull up state-recognized dentists who take Medicaid coverage.

Discount plans are another affordable way to save money on your dentistry. With these plans, you can select a provider from a list of network credentialed dentists to receive a substantial discount. These discounts may even cut your dentist bill in half.
